I decided to sleep in, have breakfast in the cabin, do some journaling, then stayed around Becker’s Chalets to explore the grounds. I preferred to drive less this day, as I would be returning home the next day.

Area behind my cabin, with a thought to lounge in my chairs next year, weather permitting.
Closer to the river. It was cool and breezy so had the place to myself for a while.
No pictures of Chickadees but did spot this paddle boarder going by.

I found out where the chickadees hang out, and enjoyed watching them and listening to them, with a reminder to myself to get more practice taking photos, because I didn’t get one decent shot.

I heard voices on the river and took time to get images of the rafters. I have been on the float myself, so it was nice to see them from the shore, or opposite view.
Other cabins and some of the burnt areas. Marilyn Monroe stayed here in 1953 while filming “River of no Return.”
Small gaggles of geese were feeding around the yard. I kept my distance and used a long lens.

When I came to the riverfront, I could hear elk bugling in the distance, probably across the river, as that is a wildlife corridor on that side. I saw signs that bears and elk had been seen on the property.

One of the many benches I sat on, taking time for meditation on the sights and sounds around me.

I enjoyed changing my viewpoint at different benches, stopping for a pause and reflection. I started to head back to my cabin when I heard bugling, closer now. Up the road ahead I saw a bull Elk cross and go behind some cabins. I snuck up behind the cabins, peaked around the corner and there was a bull, limping badly and giving the occasional call. I kept a good safe distance and I managed to get some pictures. I was thrilled, as this was a sight I had hoped to see and the sound of bugling that I had hoped to hear.

I was very careful, staying away from this bull as I partially hid behind the building. I knew that he knew I was there.
He is close to the cabins, so if you are staying here, be aware when walking out the door of your chalet or cabin.
He was headed to the field behind the property, so I went to my cabin and got into my car to drive toward the back.
Unfortunately, I cut off the top of his antlers in this shot, and the hill obscured his body but it was the most focused.

That, and a great dinner made my day. I had a vegan meal, Tofu Curry with the sauce drippled over chunks of crisp tofu on a bed of Mexican Rice with a garnish of crushed pistacios-it was delicious!
